This is the annual meeting of the Central Florida Chapter. A boxed lunch will be provided, and the four sessions will provide seven hours of CPE. Please register and mark your lunch selection if you plan on attending. Your lunch selection will help with ordering quantities and will not guarantee that you get a particular selection. 

Please register by no later than Friday, May 24, 2024, if you plan to attend, and receive a boxed lunch.

Sessions

9:00 – 9:50 - The Strategic Plan: A closer look at the value of having a focused vision and priority alignment - (1 hr - BEH) - Presented by Rebecca Martinez, Organizational Development Manager, Toho Water Authority

- This interactive 1-hour session will offer participants a deeper understanding of the Strategic Plan as more than just a tool. Participants will gain an understanding of the Strategic Plan as a process that can add value to how they manage their work.  Listen to Strategic Plan best practices and ideas for improving communication with your teams and help better align budgeting practices and decisions.

10:00 -11:50 – Economic Update & Investment Strategy Review - (2 hrs - AA) - Presented by Rod Bettini – Sr. Director, Public Trust Advisors

- A record-breaking rise in interest rates, coupled with inflation, Russia’s war in Ukraine, regional banking sector instability and recession fears have sent markets tumbling over the last 18 months. With the Fed signaling that it may be towards the end of its tightening cycle, how is local government affected? This session is focused on these and other current economic indicators, and more specifically their relevance to cash management, investments and overall financial decision making for public sector entities. Participants will gain an understanding of how to interpret and utilize this data when making decisions related to daily operations, forecasting, liquidity management, borrowing, and optimizing their investment portfolio. The session will also provide an Investment Strategy overview, from inception of the strategy to implementation.

1:00 – 2:50 - Achieving Compliance through Smart Workflow Design -(2 hrs - TB) – Presented by Anthony Walsh, Cherry Bekaert Advisors, LLC

- Does your team struggle with completing its federal grant program compliance requirements? If so, this session is for you. We will walk through what a smart workflow is and how implementing one can help alleviate the burdens associated with these compliance requirements. We will also discuss the concept of change management and how it relates to a successful implementation process.

3:00 – 4:50 - The Power of Connection: Building Relationships, Communication Skills, and Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace- (2 hrs - BEH) - Presented by Ashleigh Pfriem, Human Resources Advisor, Orange County Government.

- This interactive workshop will equip you with the tools to navigate the complexities of professional relationships. Explore the concept of emotional intelligence and its role in effective communication. Learn strategies for building trust, fostering collaboration, and resolving conflict. Identify your communication style, gain valuable insights into different styles, and discover how to adapt your approach to strengthen relationships in the workplace.

Parking

Parking is available in the City Commons parking garage located directly behind Orlando City Hall off of Boone Avenue.  Take the elevator in the garage to the 3rd floor, cross Boone Avenue utilizing the pedestrian bridge and enter City Hall from the 2nd floor.  

You will need to create a visitor's badge and go through security before being allowed to fully enter City Hall.  Security can then direct you to the elevator to access the 9th floor conference room.

Rates are $3 per Hour or Daily Max $15

REMINDER:  You must be a paid member at the time of the event to earn CPE credits.
