Information
This is the annual meeting of the Central Florida Chapter. A boxed lunch will be provided, and the four sessions will provide seven hours of CPE. Please register and mark your lunch selection if you plan on attending. Your lunch selection will help with ordering quantities and will not guarantee that you get a particular selection. 

Please register by no later than Tuesday, May 16, 2023, if you plan to attend, and receive a boxed lunch.

REMINDER:  You must be a paid member at the time of the event to earn CPE credits.

Sessions

9:00 – 10:50 - Government Accounting Complexities (2 hr - AA)   Presented by Andrew Laflin and Scott Bird, Aclarian

- Training and discussion on the complexities of government accounting that include strategies for structuring general ledger accounts, ways to track projects and grants, and accounting for existing leases with changing terms.

11:00 -12:00 – The Key to Navigating a Multigenerational Workplace- Lost in the Multiverse (1 hr - TB) -  Presented by Malica Williams.

- In this session, we will discuss the benefits of working with generational differences in the workplace. As we explore the different generations, will we discover a solution to bridge the gap?

12:00  Annual Meeting & Budget Approval

12:15 – Boxed Lunch (provided)

1:00 – 2:50 - Government Audit Update (2 hrs - AA) – William Blend, MSL CPAs & Advisors

- The session will cover updates on government audits including yellow book and single audit. The session will cover why knowing these issues are important to local governments and can help avoid potential audit findings.

3:00 – 4:50 - GASB 96, Subscription-Based IT Arrangements Implementation Challenges Identified and Answered (2 hrs - AA) - Presented by Anthony Walsh and Michael Straney, Cherry Bekaert

- What are SBITAs? How is this different from GASB 87? What does the implementation process look like? We will cover these questions and more as we discuss the implementation of GASB 96 and some of the tips and tricks we have come across during the implementation process for contracts that are applicable to SBITAs.

Parking

Parking is available in the City Commons parking garage located directly behind Orlando City Hall off of Boone Avenue.  Take the elevator in the garage to the 3rd floor, cross Boone Avenue utilizing the pedestrian bridge and enter City Hall from the 2nd floor.  

You will need to create a visitor's badge and go through security before being allowed to fully enter City Hall.  Security can then direct you to the elevator to access the 9th floor conference room.

Rates are $3 per Hour or Daily Max $15
